  1. Ari, I am a friend if your parents. I am their age, but have been a devotee of rock music since the early sixties (before the Beatles). I am so enjoying your podcast. Your sincere devotion to the music and the process of collecting old vinyl and understanding what it meant to the people who purchased it originally is striking for a young man. For myself… It was everything. Just as you described it in your Vinyl program. I haven’t heard clicks and pops for quite awhile and I sold my vinyl collection years ago.

At my ripe old age the sound quality has superseded the “collectibilty” factor. With music today more or less free I find I enjoy the clarity and hearing things I didn’t hear originally from the 60s vinyl.

When you played I Saw Her Standing There on vinyl, the lack of the bass turned up in the mix was striking to me… but that’s what we fell in love with over 50 years ago. I prefer the remasters now.

I particularly like the fact that you enjoy the Kinks music from what I call the Big 5. Face to Face, Something Else, Village Green, Arthur and Lola. Amount the best and least understood music ever made.

Thanks again for the joy. Your Mother is extremely proud of you.

    Mitchell Sussman
